EWVIDCO hosts the 'Employment Law Roundtable'
EWVIDCO hosted the Employment Law Roundtable, a discussion on employee classification and what it means for small food businesses. The roundtable, which took place on June 11th at The Brooklyn Kitchen, featured Rania Sedhom, a labor and employment law specialist. The audience, comprised of food entrepreneurs, listened as Ms. Sedhom discussed the differences between an individual and an independent contractor using the IRS 20 Point Test.
Attendees benefitted by submitting questions to Ms. Sedhom ahead of time via e-mail and she answered each at the end of the session. The roundtable setting allowed for attendees to ask further questions throughout the discussion and Ms. Sedhom tailored her examples specifically to the types of food businesses present. Being knowledgeable of the factors that determine different categories of employment is essential to all businesses and this event helped provide clarification on the differences.
