December 2006 On-Line Newsletter

Message from the President and CEO
Patrick J. MacKrell
Dear Friends,
We hope that you have been having a wonderful holiday season!
As we look to the New Year, we have excitement and momentum
for a great 2007. Changes in 2006 such as our construction
program featured in last month's newsletter, and the expansion of
our area of operations and community
partner program will provide many opportunities to work
together.
We are known often as a great SBA lender, but there’s more to
what we do! In this month's
Lender's Corner,
Steve Willard writes about our participation in conventional
lending. Whether it is a non-profit that does not
qualify for SBA financing options or a loan where SBA
involvement is not appropriate, we can be an effective lending
partner.
Our
Success Story of the Month
involves a non-profit outside the realm of our normal lending
practices, but a worthwhile conventional loan that kept our
mission of retaining jobs in New York State. In this project
we partnered to mitigate risk and helped our partner bank
close the loan.
Linda Zou, featured in our
Employee Spotlight,
is
fluent in Chinese
and is using that skill to
increase our support of Asian banks and businesses in New York
City and Long Island.
This month we included our first Partner Page which is the
result of our request to have our partners contribute items on
relevant topics. Thanks to NYBDC Board member Brian McMahon
and our long time counsel Mike O’Shea for collaborating on the
article featured on our Partner Page –

In addition to the
November
2006 Loan Approvals
contained in this edition of the newsletter, a
list of all loans approved during our recently concluded
fiscal year and prior issues of our electronic newsletter are
available on our website
www.nybdc.com.
You
might notice that we have changed our format after receiving
comments from our readers who thought the white on blue was
difficult to read (a bit too vivid) and that printing the
newsletter as a keepsake was draining the ink from their
printers. Let us know your thoughts on the new format.
Please accept the best wishes of your friends at NYBDC for a
happy, healthy and rewarding New Year.
